Care With Me desde sus inicios comenzó por darle suma importancia al manejo de residuos sólidos.

Solid Waste Management

When Care With Me was founded, its priority was to give grate importance to solid waste management. This is because more than 5,000 jaguars live in Mexico, of which approximately 1,000 live in the jungle of Quintana Roo. However, the rapid growth of the city of Tulum began to threaten one of the areas with the greatest movement of the jaguar, the Sian Ka’an reserve and its surroundings. Urban expansion and inadequate waste management in landfills are responsible for threatening this majestic cat of the Americas.

Solid waste management is the most conspicuous problem, flooding Tulum with 100 tons per day and 180 tons per day during the high season.

2 out of 3 kg of garbage generated daily comes from the hotel zone. So, it’s necessary that hotels, restaurants and bars begin to implement management plans to reduce and recycle their waste.

To achieve this, a Solid Waste Management Action Plan was created, which is being developed by Red Tulum Sostenible with the support of Care With Me. This plan establishes actions in the short, medium and long term, from implementing new technologies to educating the general population.

In an effort to raise awareness and provide solutions, Care With Me continues to operate throughout the year and has 4 areas of action:

  • Establish good practices at the Art With Me festival venues to reduce environmental impact.
  • Carry out talks, workshops and artistic activities that advise attendees how to take action.
  • Support the development and implementation of a Solid Waste Management Plan for Tulum.
  • Participation in global movements in search of alliances with national and international leaders that educate and inspire actions for a more sustainable future.

To this day, Care With Me continues to create ecological programs aimed at the ethical management of solid waste. At the same time, we carry out multigenerational educational and experiential activities that include talks, panels and demonstrations.
